Lombard Jaycees haunted house to scare up charity funding; Svengoolie to appear
By SUBURBAN LIFE MEDIA
It's creeping up on us. Only days remain until the Lombard Jaycees kick off the Halloween season with their 43rd annual haunted house. Proceeds help purchase holiday food baskets, and children's Christmas presents for families in need in the York Township area.
Special events will include a Svengoolie appearance from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.
Svengoolie will sign autographs, take pictures and have merchandise available. During his debut appearance, the Lombard Jaycees will have discounted advance admission tickets to the haunted house on sale.
Also planned is a free Kiddie Matinee from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, with nonperishable food donation appreciated.
The Jaycees say theirs is the longest-running haunted house in the country. This year's theme will be "Happy Hell-A-Days."
The chills inhabit Yorktown Mall, 356 Yorktown Shopping Center off Highland Avenue, Lombard. Hours are 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 11 to 13, 18 to 20, 25 to 27, 29 to 31 and Nov. 1 and 2.
Admission costs $10 for ages 10 and older, $5 for ages 9 and younger. VIP tickets cost $15 and $7, respectively. For more information, visit www.haunted-house.com.
