Giggles the Clown is just one of the underworld denizens including apocalyptic steam punk bikers, ghouls, the possessed and the insane inhabiting the Asylum Xperiment haunted house. (Photo provided)

Not for the weak of heart, the Asylum Xperiment is poised to scare up fun beginning Friday night, Oct. 4, in Villa Park.

Organizers note the attraction was voted top haunt last year by the Haunted Illinois review site. A judge stated: “… I just couldn’t get over the fact that it was like nothing I have ever seen this side of Disney World.”

Each year, the Asylum adds new scares and special effects. Food and beverage concessions, including the Lunatic Lounge bar, are available.

The haunting begins with "The House: Home for the Horrordays." And this year, AX adds an interactive component that lets visitors waiting to enter scare their peers already inside.

AX is set at the Odeum Expo Center, 1033 N. Villa Ave., Villa Park. It will be up to its tricks from 7 p.m. to late evening various dates between Oct. 4 and Nov. 2. The cost is $25, $40 for VIP perks. Visit for details, or contact the Odeum at 630-941-9292 and Tickets purchased at the door require cash.
