Entertainment and fireworks will go hand-in-hand at venues across the suburbs next week, including Carol Stream, where a string of fundraisers took place in recent months to support the annual event.

Visitor can gather at the Ross Ferraro Town Center with family, friends and neighbors to celebrate Thursday evening, July 4, when the area’s classic rock band Voyage performs at 7 p.m. on the gazebo stage. The six-piece band plays hits from such arena rock artists as Led Zeppelin, Foreigner, REO, Styx, UFO, Journey, Bon Jovi and Van Halen.

Starting at 6 p.m., Rocco Vino’s will serve its award-winning pizza and signature Italian dishes, and Culver’s will offer frozen custard.

At the close of the concert, the village and park district will co-sponsor a "Fireworks Extravaganza" choreographed to patriotic music beginning at 9:30 p.m. sharp.

Public viewing areas include Veterans Park, Mitchell Lakes and the Town Center grounds, while Hampe Park due northwest of the Town Center is a restricted area and off limits.

Parking, street closures

On the July Fourth holiday, police remind residents that there will be no parking on the east side of the following streets from 6 a.m. to midnight:

Boone Drive, Bowie Drive, Dearborn Circle, Idaho Trail north of Lies Road, and Adler Lane.

In addition, Lies Road from Idaho Trail east to and Gary Avenue will be closed to through traffic that evening from 9:15 to 11:30 p.m. Signs indicating local traffic only for residents living in the area east of Kuhn Road will be in place prior to the road’s closure. All other motorists should take North Avenue or Amy Trail Road as an alternate route.

Shuttle service
Because of limited paved parking at the Ross Ferraro Town Center, the village will provide shuttle service to and from both Glenbard North High School and posted parking lots along the Lies Road industrial corridor from 7 to 11 p.m. People are encouraged to use the free shuttle service to these remote paved lots.
The Ross Ferraro Town Center is at the corner of Gary Avenue and Lies Road, and is the site of the Summer Concert Series. For more information on other upcoming Town Center events, call the village receptionist at 630-665-7050 or visit Facebook and type: Carol Stream Summer Events. Visit
