A benefit for SEASPAR stars American English, a top Beatles tribute band. SEASPAR provides year-around recreation services for individuals with disabilities, and is an extension of the park districts of Clarendon Hills, Darien, Downers Grove, La Grange, La Grange Park, Lisle, Westmont, Woodridge and the villages of Brookfield, Indian Head Park and Western Springs. Scarletti's Italian Kitchen and Gatto's Restaurant, both in Downers Grove, offer discounts to ticket holders that evening.

Founded by Jonathan Miller of Downers Grove, the critically acclaimed Chicago a cappella will perform an American Songbook concert. It features inventive new arrangements of selections by such composers as George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and Richard Rodgers. The ensemble is gearing up for its 20 anniversary season under Miller, its artistic director. For this show, the guest music director is John William Trotter.

As a fundraiser for Theatre of Western Springs, its adult troupe will team with youthful members of its Children's Theatre in the revue “Passport to Broadway.” Musical direction is by opera singer Tracey Ford. “There is so much vocal talent at TWS," she says of the 70-member cast singing Broadway favorites. Featured are performers from communities such as Downers Grove and Lisle to Hinsdale and beyond. It's a foray into musicals in anticipation of next season's 85th anniversary.

Dive into fun at this year’s Diveheart community fundraiser called Band Together. Held at the Lodge Pub, it features music, fun and food, all of which benefit Diveheart’s mission to provide scuba diving opportunities for children, adults and veterans with disabilities. The band Second Hand Soul will perform, and the whole family, including kids, are invited.

Two highly regarded Illinois poets, Debra Bruce and Jim Lambert, will be featured. The Roaming Librarians from the Westmont Public Library also participate in the event put on by Brewed Awakening and the Illinois State Poetry Society, based in Bolingbrook. Bruce's poetry collection "Sudden Hunger" earned the Carl Sandburg Award from the Chicago Public Library, and her work has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts. An open mic is part of the afternoon.
